§ 50.01 DEFINITIONS.
   The following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a separate meaning.
   FAMILY UNIT. One or more persons occupying premises and living as a single housekeeping unit, whether or not related to each other by birth, adoption or marriage, but no unrelated group shall consist of more than 5 persons, as distinguished from a group occupying a licensed rooming house or hotel.
   GARBAGE. Any rejected or waste household food, offal, swill or carrion and every accumulation of animal, fruit or vegetable matter that attends the preparation, use, cooking and dealing in, or storage of, meats, fish, fowl, fruits or vegetables and any other matter of any nature, which is subject to decay, putrefaction and the generation of noxious or offensive gases or odor, or which during or after decay, may serve as a breeding or feeding material for flies or other germ-carrying insects.
   PREMISES. Any house, residence, building, flat, apartment, room, dwelling place, or place of abode.
   WASTE. Any or all of the following: domestic garbage, refuse, ashes, tin cans, bottles, cartons, books, newspapers, boxes and other household trash, including discarded household furniture, furnishings, fixtures and appliances of all kinds, manure, dead animals or parts thereof, trees, tree branches, tree roots, tree trunks, brush, shrubs, grass clippings, plant stalks and leaves.
   WASTE CONTAINER. A can of galvanized iron or noncorrodible metal or plastic, rodent-proof and flyproof, durable and leakproof, of the type commonly sold as a garbage can, of a suitable gauge and construction to insure durability, with suitable handles on can and lid, and of a capacity of not less than 10 gallons and not more than 32 gallons. The term shall also mean a plastic or paper bag container specifically manufactured and sold as a garbage container which bag shall be rodent-proof and flyproof, durable and leakproof and the specifications for which have been approved by the Director of Public Works on the recommendation of the Building Director.
   WASTE DISPOSAL CONTRACTOR. The contractor with whom the Village has contracted for the removal of waste from all residential premises in the Village using the Village’s waste disposal services.
   WASTE DISPOSAL FIRM. Any person engaged in the business of removal and disposal of waste as defined herein.
