§ 77.01 PURPOSE – ESTABLISHMENT OF AUTOMATED RED LIGHT CAMERA PROGRAM.
   (A)   The purpose of this chapter is to provide for the establishment of an automated traffic law enforcement system. As used in this chapter, an AUTOMATED TRAFFIC LAW ENFORCEMENT SYSTEM means a device with 1 or more motor vehicle sensors working in conjunction with a red light signal to produce recorded images of motor vehicles entering an intersection against a red signal indication in violation of § 11-306 of the Illinois Vehicle Code or §§ 71.16 and 71.17 of this Code.
   (B)   The system shall utilize an automated traffic control signal monitoring device which records, through photographic means, the vehicle and the vehicle registration plate of a vehicle operated in violation of § 11-306 of the Illinois Vehicle Code or §§ 71.16 or 71.17 of this Code. The photographic record shall also display the time, date and location of the violation.
   (C)   A program shall be established which creates, implements and utilizes an automated traffic law enforcement system at various vehicle traffic intersections identified by the Village, with the advice of the Police Department.
   (D)   The Village shall adopt rules and regulations as may be necessary for the proper enforcement and administration of this chapter.
