1309.01 CALCULATING FLOOR AREA; FLOOR SPACE DEFINED.
The aggregate floor area shall be the sum of the gross horizontal areas of the several floors, including basements, cellars and attics that are at least fifty percent (50%) habitable. For purposes of a single-dwelling house, all horizontal dimensions, including enclosed porches, shall be taken from the interior faces of the walls. For other buildings and/or structures, all horizontal dimensions shall be taken from the exterior faces of walls. The floor space of a building or other structure as used herein means the floor space for each floor, including basements where used for business or by the public or as live-in quarters, attached garages, breezeways and covered porches.
