SCHEDULE I. SPEED LIMITS.
   (A)   The following prescribed section of SH 8 is regulated as to the speed of motor vehicles traveling thereon in the direction indicated, and it shall be unlawful for the driver of any motor vehicle to drive said vehicle within said section in the direction stated at a speed in excess of the following:
      (1)   For traffic traveling in a southerly direction on SH 8.
         (a)   Thirty-five mph from a point of intersection with US 67(MP 0.000 Cont. 0062-01) south for a distance of 0.237 miles, to a point 206 feet south of Elm Street (MP 0.237 Cont. 0062-01);
         (b)   Forty-five mph from a point 206 feet south of Elm Street (MP 0.237 Cont. 0062-01) south for a distance of 0.600 miles, to a point 797 feet south of Cedar Street (MP 0.837 Cont. 0062-01) except for that portion from a point 370 feet north of Holly Street (MP 0.484 Cont. 0062-01) south for a distance of 0.218 miles to a point 85 feet south of Cedar Street (MP 0.702 Cont. 0062-01), the speed limit shall be 30 mph for the school zone when flashing beacons are in operation on school days; or
         (c)   Fifty-five mph from a point 797 feet south of Cedar Street (MP 0.837 Cont. 0062-01) south for a distance of 0.219 miles, to a point 48 feet north of FM 2624 said point also being the south city limits (MP 1.056 Cont. 0062-01).
      (2)   For traffic traveling in a northerly direction on SH 8.
         (a)   Fifty-five mph from a point 48 feet north of FM 2624 said point also being the south city limits (MP 1.056 Cont. 0062-01) north for a distance of 0.219 miles, to a point 797 feet south of Cedar Street (MP 0.837 Cont. 0062-01);
         (b)   Forty-five mph from a point 797 feet south of Cedar Street (MP 0.837 Cont. 0062-01) north for a distance of 0.600 miles, to a point 206 feet south of Elm Street (MP 0.237 Cont. 0062-01) except for that portion from a point 85 feet south of Cedar Street (MP 0.702 Cont. 0062-01) north for a distance of 0.218 miles to a point 370 feet north of Holly Street (MP 0.484 Cont. 0062-01), the speed limit shall be 30 mph for the school zone when flashing beacons are in operation on school days; or
         (c)   Thirty-five mph from a point 206 feet south of Elm Street (MP 0.237 Cont 0062-01) north for a distance of 0.237 miles, to a point of intersection with US 67 (MP 0.000 Cont. 0062-01).
   (B)   The herein above speeds for vehicular traffic traveling upon the herein above designated section of SH 8 in the direction herein specified be and they are hereby found to be reasonable and safe prima facie speed limits therefor. The fact that this regulation of the speed of motor vehicles is needed, creates an emergency which is for the immediate preservation of public safety and general welfare, requires that this schedule take effect immediately from and after its passage and is accordingly so ordained.
   (C)   The State Department of Transportation is authorized to erect signs indicating the speed limits herein designated.
   (D)   Any person violating any provisions of this schedule shall, upon conviction, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.
