All proceeds resulting from the imposition of the hotel tax, including penalties, shall be paid into the treasury of the village and shall be credited to and deposited in the general corporate fund of the village. The proceeds from the tax collected pursuant to this subchapter shall be used for any lawful purposes of the fund. No such funds shall be used to advertise for or otherwise promote new competition in the hotel business.
