§ 32.135 ESTABLISHMENT; APPOINTMENT AND TERM.
   (A)   The Board of Trustees hereby establishes an Education Commission that shall consist of seven regular members appointed by the Village President with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The mission of the village’s Education Commission shall be to assist the Boards of Education to promote education excellence in the schools that serve the residents of the village.
   (B)   The members of the Commission shall be appointed for a one-year term commencing June 1 and ending May 31 of the following year. All members of the Education Commission must be residents in the village with a background, experience or interest in the education of the residents of the village. The Village President shall select one of the members as Chairperson. Compensation of members shall be reviewed on an annual basis during the village’s budget process and is subject to change.
   (C)   In addition, the Commission shall include ex officio members representing each of the school districts operating within the corporate limits of the village. Ex officio members shall serve at the discretion of the respective school districts.
   (D)   The Village President, with the consent of the Board of Trustees, may appoint any number of alternate members to supplement the regular members. Alternates may participate in all discussions and work activities, but shall not be considered as voting members.
   (E)   If a member provides notification that he or she cannot fulfill the term of service of the appointment, all alternate members who agree to serve shall first be considered for appointment to finish out the term.
   (F)   No member of the Commission shall intentionally use any property or resources of the village or the authority or title of his or her membership in the Commission in connection with any prohibited political activity as defined in § 5 of the State Officials and Employees Ethics Act (5 ILCS 430/1-5).
