Any person licensed as a pawnbroker shall keep a correct list and description in a book for that purpose of every article pledged or deposited with him, or on which advances of money have been made or which may be purchased by him. Such list and description shall at all times be open to inspection of the Mayor or Chief of Police or any of the police officers of the City. The persons so licensed shall at all times, when required by the Mayor or Chief of Police or police officers as aforesaid produce and show any articles so listed and described which may be in his possession. He shall also register in such book the name and place of residence of the depositor and the time when the deposit was made. All of the entries shall be written in ink in the English language, and no entry shall be erased, obliterated or defaced. (1957 Code Sec. 563.03)
