If the operator of any bicycle violates any of the provisions of this chapter, such bicycle may be immediately taken and impounded by the Police Department for a period to be determined by the Chief of Police or an officer appointed by him, but not to exceed ten days. If any bicycle is found unattended, the Police Department shall take possession of such bicycle and hold it until ownership can be established. Bicycles for which no owner can be found shall be disposed of in accordance with the law.
