There is hereby established the position of school crossing guard. The number of school crossing guards shall be determined by Council. The duties of school crossing guards are to direct traffic and assist children and others in crossing streets safely. School crossing guards shall be appointed by the Safety Director, with approval by the City Manager, and they shall perform their duties at the locations prescribed by the Safety Director, and shall serve at the pleasure of the City Manager.
