Before entering into the performance of the duties of a member of the Board, each person appointed to that office shall first sign and file with the Village Clerk an oath or affirmation that he or she will discharge faithfully the duties of the office. The oath or affirmation shall be in the following form:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Illinois, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of member of the Village of Maryville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners according to the best of my ability.
