A well that has been replaced by a public water supply shall not be required to be decommissioned if the property owner has submitted a written request to this Borough for approval to continue to maintain the well, and has received written approval to maintain the well from the Borough. The well must be physically disconnected from the domestic water supply plumbing as a means of preventing cross-connection contamination of the public water supply. Wells maintained for landscaping use must be fitted with a backflow prevention device and a sanitary seal well cap.
