§ 18-204.   Rules and Regulations of Holding Tanks.
The following rules and regulations shall apply to the installation and maintenance of holding tanks within the Borough of Marysville:
      A.   The restrictions on the use of holding tanks shall be as follows. Holding tanks may be used only in lieu of treatment tanks in subsurface absorption areas then all of the following specific conditions are met:
         (1)   A treatment tank and subsurface absorption area system at the lot cannot qualify for a permit.
         (2)   The applicable official plans or the revisions thereto indicate the use of holding tanks for that lot.
         (3)   The holding tank will meet the design standards set forth in the rules and regulations of the Department of Environmental Protection of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. [Ord. 553]
      B.   The design standards for holding tanks for the Borough of Marysville shall be as follows:
         (1)   The capacity of a holding tank shall be large enough to hold a minimum of 3 days sewage waste or 1,000 gallons, whichever is larger.
         (2)   Holding tanks shall be constructed of durable materials and shall be watertight.
         (3)   The collection unit shall be equipped with a warning device to indicate when the unit is within 75% of capacity. Such warning device shall create an audible or visible signal at a location frequented by the homeowner or responsible individual.
