(A) (1) There is established the position of Animal Control Officer.
(2) The Animal Control Officer shall be appointed by the Mayor.
(3) The Animal Control Officer shall patrol the city in search of dogs that are in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter and shall apprehend and impound them in conformance with the provisions of this chapter.
(4) In addition, the Animal Control Officer shall perform such other functions as the Mayor may direct.
(B) The Animal Control Officer shall keep an accurate record of all dogs impounded showing the date of impoundment and a brief description of each dog. Such records shall be open to the public for inspection at all times.
(C) The Animal Control Officer shall be allowed such compensation as may be provided by law.
