§ 82-1 FILLING SWIMMING POOLS; FEE.
   (A)   The following shall be the rules and requirements for filling of swimming pools using water supplied by the city’s water utility.
      (1)   Filling of pools using a fire hydrant or flush hydrant is prohibited.
      (2)   Pools may be filled using city water that is measured and metered through the water utility customer’s water meter.
      (3)   Customer must notify the city’s utility office prior to filling the pool and provide the utility office with the capacity of the pool in gallons or the dimensions of the pool. The average depth, length and width or diameter, will be used to calculate capacity. Depth will be measured from the normal water level of the pool to the bottom of the pool or in the case of a partial filling to the existing water level. The city may inspect the pool to verify the capacity. In no case will a credit be allowed in excess of the calculated pool capacity and the credit must reasonably reflect an increased water usage due to filling of the pool.
      (4)   Based on the capacity of the pool, the utility office will adjust the sewer portion of the customer’s bill for the water used to fill the pool since the water did not enter the sanitary sewer.
      (5)   Each customer is allowed one sewer adjustment annually for filling of swimming pool. If a customer desires an additional sewer credit for refilling of the pool, the adjustment must be approved by the city’s Board of Public Works and Safety. If a refill adjustment is approved by the Board, it will be the difference between the month the refill was made and the customer’s average water usage over the prior three months.
   (B)   Sewer adjustment for wading pools, landscape ponds and water features is prohibited, also prohibited is an adjustment for a swimming pool having a capacity of less than 3,000 gallons.
