There shall be elected two Aldermen from each ward in the City. All Aldermen shall take the oath of office prescribed by law and otherwise qualify as such Aldermen beginning on the first regular or special meeting of Council in the month of May following the election, and shall hold office for terms of four years and until their successors are elected and have qualified.
