The Chief of Police and all other officers sworn to preserve the peace of the City shall, while on duty, wear uniforms and badges designating their authority as police officers for the City and shall, while on duty, be authorized to arm themselves for their own protection and the proper protection of all others, subject, however, to whatever regulations Council deems best under the circumstances.
