It shall be unlawful to discharge any firearm or air gun in the city, provided that this section shall not be construed to prohibit any officer of the law to discharge a firearm in the performance of his or her duty, nor prohibit any citizen to discharge a firearm when lawfully defending his or her person or property, nor prohibit any person from discharging a firearm where hunting is authorized under both this code and state statute, nor prohibit any person from discharging a firearm authorized under the city Zoning Ordinance.
