(A) The Board of Health shall have the general supervision of the interest of the public health of the city. The Board shall have authority to make such rules and regulations and such sanitary investigation as they may from time to time deem necessary for the preservation and improvement of the public health, and they are empowered to make such regulations, not inconsistent with the laws of the state, as may be necessary to at all times prevent the spread of any contagious or pestilential disease. It shall be the duty of all officers, police officers and other employees of the city to enforce the rules and regulations that may be adopted by the Board.
(B) It shall be the duty of the Board to investigate into the cause of dangerously contagious or infectious disease, especially when existing in epidemic form and take means to restrict and suppress the same, and whenever any dangerously contagious or infectious disease shall become, or threaten to become, epidemic in the city, the Board shall immediately take all necessary steps provided for by law to suppress the same.
