§ 52.84 CROSS-CONNECTION PROHIBITED.
   (A)   No person, firm, or corporation shall establish or permit to be established or maintain or permit to be maintained any connection whereby a private, auxiliary, or emergency water supply other than the regular public water supply of the city may enter the supply or distribution system of said municipality, unless such private, auxiliary or emergency water supply and the method of connection and use of such supply shall have been approved by the Superintendent of Water and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
   (B)   (1)   No physical connection shall be permitted between the potable portion of a supply and any other water supply not equal or better bacteriological and chemical quality as determined by inspection and analysis by certified laboratory.
      (2)   There shall be no arrangement or connection by which an unsafe substance may enter a supply. When a piping system is not being used because of an air-gap situation, that pipe will be protected from any outside source of contamination by using the proper device to cap the end of the pipe.
