§ 33.83 APPOINTMENT AND TERM OF OFFICE; REMOVAL OF MEMBER.
   (A)   Appointment and term of office. The Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, shall appoint three members to the Board of Police Commissioners. For the first appointed Board, one of the members shall be appointed to serve until the end of the then current municipal year, another to serve until the end of the municipal year next ensuing, and the third to serve until the end of the municipal year second next ensuing. After the initial appointments, terms of office shall be for three years. Notwithstanding the above, every member shall serve until their successor is appointed and has qualified. Vacancies on the Board of Police Commissioners shall be filled by the Mayor with the consent of the City Council. Upon appointment, members shall take an oath of office.
   (B)   Removal of member. Members shall not be subject to removal, except for cause upon written charges, and after an opportunity to be heard within 30 days in his or her own defense, before a regular meeting of the City Council. A majority vote of the City Council shall be required to remove any such member from office.
