9-11-2: DEFINITION OF TERMS:
As used herein, the following terms shall have the following meanings, unless the context in which they are used clearly indicates otherwise:
CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION: Any organization organized for the religious or charitable purposes and so recognized by the internal revenue service of the United States department of the treasury under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, or any hereafter enacted similar provision of the tax code of the United States of America.
COMMERCIAL GROUP: Any person, firm or other entity generally engaged in a business for profit and/or any person, firm or other entity not included within the definition of any other person, group or entity herein defined.
DEPOSIT: The payment of monies to the city in order to ensure compliance with the rules, return of the key, cleanliness of the building and that no damage has occurred. Deposit amount is determined in the fee structure based on the use of Liberty hall. The return of the deposit is based in accordance with this policy.
EVENT: Any event, gathering, meeting, party, reception or other use of the facility conducted pursuant to an approved application for such use.
FACILITY: The Marquette Heights community center (building and grounds) located at 100 Lincoln Road, Marquette Heights, Illinois.
HOBBY GROUPS AND SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS: A group or organization whose primary function is to provide involvement and service to the residents of the communities in which they are located, or any fraternal organization, such as (including, but not limited to) the Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Rotary Club, the Optimists Club, Jaycees, Shriners, Elks Club, Moose Club, Knights of Columbus, any local chapter of such an organization, and any club or group organized for similar purposes such as (including, but not limited to) Women's Club, Junior Women's Club, Men's Club, Garden Club, Toll Society, Computer Club, etc.
LOCAL GROUP: Any person, club, group, individual, organization or other entity who is a resident of or is headquartered in or whose principal area of activity is in the city of Marquette Heights, Illinois.
MUNICIPAL ORGANIZATION: Any department within the municipal government of the city of Marquette Heights, such as (including, but not limited to) the fire department, police department, city council or other municipal department.
OUTSIDE GROUP: Any person, club, group, individual, organization or other entity not a resident of or headquartered in, or whose principal area of activity is outside of the city of Marquette Heights, Illinois.
PRIVATE PARTY: Any individual or person, not otherwise defined herein, who applies for use of the facility for any private use or function such as weddings, reunions, receptions, etc.
RENTAL FEE: The fee charged by the city of Marquette Heights for the use of the facility as set forth on the schedule of fees attached to the ordinance codified herein, on file in the office of the city clerk. The rental fee shall be paid within ten (10) days of approval of the application for the use of the facility and will only be returned if cancellation is done in a timely manner, and further, the rental fee shall be retained by the city of Marquette Heights in the event that the scheduled use is canceled less than fourteen (14) days prior to the scheduled date thereof.
YOUTH GROUPS: The Boy Scouts Of America, Cub Scouts, Eagle Scouts, Girl Scouts Of America, Brownie Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, Indian Guides, Little League, 4-H Club, Future Farmers Of America or any similar youth organizations. (Ord. 634, 4-22-2002)
