6-4-4-2: WATER MAINS:
   A.   Water mains shall be provided of no less than six inches (6") diameter. Acceptable materials for water mains are AWWA C900 DR 18 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and ductile iron pipe, cement lined. Mains shall be sized considering future extension, pressure, and demand requirements including fire flow. All polyvinyl chloride (PVC) water mains shall be installed with a copper tracer locating wire. The wire shall terminate in valve boxes near the top for easy access. (Ord. 687, 12-28-2004)
   B.   Water mains shall be looped and valved to permit shutting off service to a small number of connections for repairs or maintenance. Where future development is indicated, looping or extensions shall be required.
   C.   Unlooped mains or dead ends shall be equipped with a fire hydrant. A flushing hydrant may be used on a dead end of a four inch (4") water main of less than one hundred seventy five (175) linear feet. (Ord. 530, 3-23-1998)
   D.   Fire hydrants shall be provided at a nominal spacing of five hundred feet (500'). Hydrants shall have a seven inch (7") dry type barrel with a five and one-fourth inch (51/4") valve. The hydrant shall be a Mueller (improved) type, or approved equal, with two (2) 21/2-inch ID (71/2 threads per inch) hose nozzles and one 41/2-inch ID pumper connection (4 threads per inch). Hydrants shall open counterclockwise.
   E.   Corporation stops and curb stops shall be one inch (1") as manufactured by Mueller Co. Individual lot water service lines shall be one inch (1") type "K" copper from the corporation stop to the curb stop, which shall be located midway between the sidewalk and curb. The curb stop shall not be installed in any driveway area. The water service line from the curb stop toward the house shall be one inch (1") type "K" copper or one inch (1") polyethylene, SDR9PE3406, and shall terminate at least two feet (2') inside the property line.    F.   No water service line or valve shall be constructed such that the service line runs under and parallel to any driveway. Water service lines may cross beneath driveways, but the skew angle shall be seventy five (75) to one hundred five degrees (105°).
   G.   In areas previously platted and having water mains previously constructed, all existing curb boxes and curb stops shall be replaced. (Ord. 530, 3-23-1998)
