Upon notice from the building inspector that work on any building or structure is being prosecuted contrary to the provisions of any code or ordinance of the town or in any unsafe or dangerous manner, such work shall be immediately stopped. The building inspector is hereby authorized to issue a stop work order, by a form promulgated by the building inspector for such purpose. A stop work order shall be in writing and shall be posted on the property in a conspicuous location; and shall state that all work must cease forthwith and state the conditions under which work may be resumed. Such posting shall constitute notice to the owner of such building or structure.
