There is hereby created the office of Health Officer. He or she shall be appointed by the Mayor. His or her compensation shall be determined from time to time by the appropriation of the City Council. Such person shall possess the qualifications fixed by law. The Health Officer shall also serve as the Ordinance Enforcement Officer if so designated and appointed by the Mayor. Such a designation and appointment does not relieve the Police Department of ordinance enforcement obligations and duties. The Ordinance Enforcement Officer is charged with enforcing all valid health and sanitation ordinances of the city.
