§ 98.040 STOP-WORK ORDER.
   (A)   Whenever the City Engineer or Superintendent of Public Works finds that any work is being conducted contrary to the provisions of this subchapter, he or she shall immediately stop all construction on the job, except such work as may be necessary to prevent injury to persons or property; provided that, at any time that either of the officials shall direct stoppage of any construction, he or she shall, not later than the following day, furnish to the holder of the permit for such construction or his or her representative, written specification of the reasons for stopping the construction, informing such permit holder wherein the construction is being conducted contrary to the provisions of this subchapter, or he or she shall post the written specification on the site.
   (B)   When such construction has been stopped, it shall not be resumed for any other purpose, except to remedy the construction which has been carried out contrary to this chapter until such construction has been fully remedied or until the holder of the permit has satisfied the Engineer and Superintendent that the improper construction is being remedied.
   (C)   When the improper construction has been remedied or when the Engineer or Superintendent has been satisfied that it is being and will be remedied, he or she shall release the stop order, which release shall be in writing.
