The City Clerk shall, before entering upon the duties of his or her office, execute a bond to the city in the penal sum of $5,000, with such sureties as the Mayor and City Council shall approve, conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of his or her office; which bond, after its approval, shall be filed with the City Treasurer.
