§ 51.065 CONNECTION OF FIRE HYDRANTS TO WATER MAINS; BOND REQUIRED.
   (A)   No fire hydrant shall be connected to a city water main by anyone other than a licensed and bonded plumbing contractor.
   (B)   A performance bond shall be required of the plumbing contractor in the minimum amount of $50,000, with good and sufficient sureties payable to the city, and the bond must be filed with the City Clerk before installation of any fire hydrant is started by the plumbing contractor. The bond shall cover all fire hydrants connected by the plumbing contract during the period of the life of the bond.
   (C)   In addition to the performance bond, a maintenance bond, with good and sufficient sureties, payable to the city, may be required of the contractor and/or principal, by the City Council, for each fire hydrant or series or groups of fire hydrants, installed by the contractor or principal involved. A PRINCIPAL is defined to be a land developer, owner, agent, corporation or any person who engages a contractor to install fire hydrants in the city. Maintenance bonds must be for a period of one year and shall be filed with the Clerk.
   (D)   All bonds shall be approved by the City Council.
