(A) Temporary leaves. Temporary leaves of absence, with or without pay, may be granted and renewed by the Mayor (or department head) for such periods as he may consider justifiable. Such leaves may be revoked by him at any time after reasonable notice has been sent to the last known address of the individual concerned. Leaves of absence for military service shall be granted for the length of such service and shall not be revoked during such time. Unauthorized leaves of absence shall constitute grounds for discharge.
(B) Personal days.

(1) A personal day may used at an employee’s discretion for any reason other than illness or vacation. All personal days shall be shall be used in increments of four hours or eight hours.
(2) All personal days shall be used within the fiscal year (May 1 through April 30) or forfeited. Personal days shall not be paid to an employee upon separation from the city.
