(A) A keyed "Knox box" shall be installed on all commercial buildings as required by the City of Markham Code of Ordinances. All keys shall be inside a locked knox box on Markham Fire Department apparatuses. All locked boxes shall have codes and the information, when the box is opened, will be sent to dispatch alerting that the box is open.
(1) All structures located within the City of Markham, except for some residential (request) structures that are secured in a manner that restricts access during an emergency shall be equipped with a key lock box at or near the main entrance or such other location authorized by the Fire Chief.
(2) The Fire Chief shall be authorized to implement rules and regulations for the use of the locked knox box system.
(B) The knox box shall be mounted between the immediate surrounding grades in which a person can stand on without any assistance. Installation shall be for a specific structure for security reasons and only approved by the Fire Chief.
(C) All knox box applications must be signed and authorized by a representative on file with the knox box company.
