43.05 INSPECTION.
1.   Notification. A site inspection shall be done by the County Sanitarian prior to beginning construction. A second inspection is required upon completion of the well. Both inspections shall be performed by the County Sanitarian who shall be notified not less than twenty-four (24) hours, between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday, except County observed holidays, before the final inspection is to be performed.
2.   Construction Details. Upon completion of the well, the contractor shall supply well construction details to the County Sanitarian by completion and submission of the Well Record required by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The Well Record contains an area for the well contractor to mark the exact location of the well. This location shall be dimensioned from two (2) fixed corners of the dwelling or other structure or other permanent landmark(s).
3.   Disinfection and Analysis. Following construction the well shall be disinfected. Before the well water is used, a water sample shall be sent to the University Hygienic Laboratory or other approved laboratory and analyzed for bacteria and nitrates. The well may not be used until the County Sanitarian has received a copy of the lab report certifying the safety of the water.
