§ 35.27 PERSONAL LEAVE.
   (A)   (1)   Employees are granted up to two days personal leave each year for personal business. An accumulation of personal leave time may not be used in conjunction with any other type of leave to extend that leave. During the first year of employment, the first personal leave day shall be taken at some time within the first six months of employment, and the second personal leave day shall be taken at some time within the second six months of employment.
      (2)   Any employee who gives notice that he or she has or will terminate his or her employment with the city or with the department in which he or she works and any employee who has been given notice that his or her employment with the city will be terminated shall not take any personal leave days after the time he or she gives notice or after the time notice is given to him or her.
   (B)   Notice requirement. Employees may use personal leave days for any purpose, if they give their department head at least five working days notice for any day they intend to use and if the department head would not have his or her department placed in unusually difficult circumstances were that employee to be off on the day(s) requested. The request for personal days off shall be in writing.
