(a) Discharge of Firearms.
(1) Except as enumerated below: no person shall discharge an air gun, rifle, shotgun, revolver, pistol, BB, pellet or other firearm capable of expelling or propelling one or more projectiles within the corporate limits of the City of Marietta, Ohio.
(2) Discharge of a firearm in self-defense is not prohibited by this section.
(3) Organized firing of ceremonial salutes with blank ammunition by members of the military, veteran’s organizations or law enforcement/police honor guard units is not prohibited by this section.
(4) Discharge of any authorized firearm by any law enforcement officer in the course of his or official duty within the City of Marietta, Ohio is not prohibited by this section.
(5) Discharge of a firearm with blank ammunition in a theatrical production is not prohibited by this section.
(6) Discharge of a firearm with blank ammunition for the purpose of starting an athletic event is not prohibited by this section.
(7) Discharge of a firearm by historical reenactors during the course of an organized reenactment as licensed by the Director of Public Safety and Service of the City of Marietta, Ohio is not prohibited by this section.
(8) Discharge of firearms is not prohibited by this section when otherwise lawfully authorized by the Director of Public Safety and Service of the City of Marietta, Ohio.
(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.
