(a) The Community Development Director of the City is hereby designated as the City's Americans with Disabilities Act Coordinator to coordinate the City's efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under the ADA and to assist qualified individuals with a
disability as follows:
(1) To coordinate City efforts to comply with and carry out its responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 including the investigation of complaints as to its noncompliance or prohibited actions under the ADA Grievance Procedure more fully set forth in Section 143.05 and the review ofrequests and suggestions regarding access to and participation in public facilities, services and functions of the City by qualified individuals with a disability; and
(2) To coordinate requested auxiliary aids for qualified individuals with a disability. (Auxiliary Aids shall be requested at least three working days prior to any meeting or activity. "Auxiliary Aids" are defined to include qualified interpreters or other effective methods of making aurally delivered materials available to individuals with hearing impairments; qualified readers, taped texts or other effective methods of making visually-delivered materials available to individuals with visual impairments; and other similar services and actions.)
(b) The grievance procedure set forth in Section 143.05 is hereby adopted as the City's Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 Grievance Procedure for the investigation, mediation and resolution of complaints against the City as to its noncompliance with the ADA. (Ord. 348(22-23). Passed 11-2-23.)
