(a) There is hereby created the position of police dispatcher, which position shall be filled by a civilian in order that the more experienced and better trained police officers now doing the radio dispatching job can be better utilized in the more vital areas of true police work. The individual filling the position of police dispatcher shall be appointed by the Director of Public Safety and Service.

(b) The position of police dispatcher shall carry with it a uniform allowance of two hundred dollars ($200.00) per annum. The items of clothing to be worn by the police dispatcher while on the job shall consist of black trousers, gray shirt, black shoes and socks and black tie, having the same specifications as that part of the uniform worn by the members of the Auxiliary Police Force.

(c) The duties and responsibilities of the police dispatcher shall be to handle all incoming and outgoing radio calls upon the Police Department radio equipment as well as any other duties and responsibilities incidental thereto upon the order of the Chief of Police.
