139.05 UNIFORM PURCHASE ALLOWANCE.
   (a)   There is hereby established a uniform purchase allowance to aid in the purchase of uniform and non-uniform clothing items for the Chief and Captain of the Police Department.
   (b)   A standardized list of the uniform and non-uniform clothing items deemed to be suitable for on duty use shall be established by the Chief subject to final approval by the Director of Public Safety and Service. (Ord. 179(00-01). Passed 1-4-01.)
   (c)   The Chief and Captain of the Police Department shall each receive an allowance of six hundred and fifteen dollars ($615.00) per year for expenditure in accordance with the terms of this Section. All such purchases of uniform or non-uniform clothing items shall be upon requisition signed by the Chief or Captain and approved by the Director of Public Safety and Service. All payments for such purchases shall be made through the office of The Auditor in the same manner as any other obligation of the City.

   (d)   While on duty the Chief and Captain shall wear uniforms as prescribed by the Chief which uniforms shall meet the regulations and specifications of the Department as determined by the Chief and approved by the Director of Public Safety and Service.

   (e)   While on duty all officers of the Department shall wear uniforms as prescribed by the Chief which uniforms shall meet the regulations and specifications of the Department as determined by the Chief and approved by the Director. Uniform items of wear shall include but is not limited to the following items of wearing apparel: blouse; shirts; trousers; ties; socks; gloves; caps and rain covers for caps; reefers; raincoats; shoes; boots; shoulder patches; service ornaments and rank insignia; and such other items of uniform wear as shall be determined by the Chief and approved by the Director.
