(a) The Director of Public Safety and Service may grant original appointments to persons seeking appointment to the position of patrolman in the Police Department who are between the ages of twenty-one (21) years of age and forty (40) years of age, inclusive.
(b) The Director of Public Safety and Service may also grant original appointments to persons seeking appointment to the position of patrolman in the Police Department who are between the ages of forty-one (41) years of age and fifty (50) years of age, inclusive, provided these persons are Ohio Peace Office Training Commission Certified.
