7-3-22: SPEED RESTRICTIONS:
Notwithstanding the absolute maximum speed limit established herein, no person shall drive any vehicle upon any street or public way within the corporate limits of the village at a speed which is greater than reasonable and proper with regard to traffic conditions and the use of the street or public way or endangers the safety of any person or property.
   (A)   Twenty Miles Per Hour: A maximum speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour is hereby established on the following streets of the village:
      Adams Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Baker Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Beauchamp Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Birch Court, for the entire length thereof.
      Brian Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Dolly Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Elm Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Hesburgh Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Hickory Street, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      Holtz Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Jan Drive from its intersection with Birch Street, east, for the entire length thereof.
      Jeffrey Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Katie Lane, for the entire length thereof.
      Keigher Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Lakeview Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Leahy Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Lincoln Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Longfellow Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Louise Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Lynn Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Main Street, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      Marquette Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Marquette Place, for the entire length thereof.
      McGuire Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      North Maple Street from its intersection with 8th Street south to Section Line Road.
      North Westshore Boulevard, for the entire length thereof.
      Oak Street, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      Park Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Parseghian Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Poplar Street, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      Reiter Road, for the entire length thereof.
      Rockne Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      St. Aubin Circle, for the entire length thereof.
      Section Line Road, for the entire length thereof.
      Sorin Circle, for the entire length thereof.
      Spruce Street, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      Vine Street, for the entire length thereof.
      Walnut Street, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      Water Tower, north and south, for the entire length thereof.
      West End Drive, for the entire length thereof.
      Willow Road, for the entire length thereof.
      First Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Second Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Third Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Sixth Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Seventh Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
      Eighth Street, east and west, for the entire length thereof.
   (B)   Thirty Miles Per Hour: A maximum speed limit of thirty (30) miles per hour is hereby established upon the following streets of the village:
      Maple Street from its intersection with 8th Street north to Ronnie Gray Drive.
   (C)   Thirty Five Miles Per Hour: A maximum speed limit of thirty five (35) miles per hour is hereby established on the following streets of the village:
      Ronnie Gray Drive.
      South Cypress Street south of its intersection with Division Street to the village limits.
      Sycamore Street from its intersection with Third Street (County Highway 9) to its intersection with Rock Creek Drive.
   (D)   School Zone:
      1.   Notwithstanding the speed limit restrictions established herein, no person shall drive any vehicle within an area designated school zone at a speed which is greater than twenty (20) miles per hour.
      2.   The following areas shall be designated as school zones:
         Cook Street from its intersection with Elm Street to its intersection with South Creek Drive, where South Creek Drive heads north from Cook.
         Marquette Drive from its intersection with South Creek Drive east a distance of eight hundred feet (800').
         North Maple from its intersection with West 2nd Street to West 6th Street.
         Park Street from its intersection with Maple Street to its intersection with Poplar Street.
         Poplar Street from its intersection with West End Drive to Park Street.
         South Creek Drive from its intersection with Cook Street to its intersection with Marquette Drive.
   (E)   Park Zone: The following streets are hereby declared park zone streets and shall have a maximum speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour on any day children are present and within fifty feet (50') of motorized traffic:
      Maple Street from its intersection with Ronnie Gray Drive thence north to the north end of Legacy Park.
      Ronnie Gray Drive from its intersection with Maple Street thence west to I-57.
   (F)   Forty Miles Per Hour: The village hereby establishes a speed limit of forty (40) miles per hour on the following streets:
      Sycamore Street between County Road 9 and the southernmost village limits.
   (G)   Forty Five Miles Per Hour: A maximum speed limit of forty five (45) miles per hour is hereby established on the following streets of the village:
      Sycamore Street north of its intersection with Rock Creek Drive to the village limits. (Ord. 12-04, 5-7-2012)
