Any person seeking to redeem any impounded animals shall pay a fee for apprehension plus a per day fee for boarding, not to exceed three (3) days. The amount of such fees will be established by the village board and amended from time to time to cover actual costs. If the owner does not redeem the animal within three (3) days after impounding, the animal may be redeemed by any other person paying the above fees. Unredeemed animals shall be disposed of as provided by the village board of trustees. All animals which have been impounded under the provisions of this chapter shall be humanely dispatched or disposed of by the animal commissioner, when not redeemed by the owner, after a period of seventy two (72) hours.
