4-4-11: AUTHORITY TO EUTHANIZE; DEPRIVATION OF LIFE:
   (A)   Any animal found in a public way or public place within the village and which, in the opinion of any police officer, the animal commissioner, or any animal control officer, appears to be injured or diseased beyond a reasonable likelihood of recovery, and which is not being attended or properly cared for by the owner, or which has not been removed to private property or to some place designated by such officer, within one hour after being found or left in such condition, may be deprived of life by such officer, or as he may direct.
   (B)   Any police officer, and any other person designated by the animal commissioner, shall be authorized to take the life of any dangerous animal when deemed necessary to protect any person or other animal from physical harm or death. (Ord. 11-29, 3-5-2012)
