§ 150.027 VARIATIONS AND MODIFICATIONS.
   (A)   The Board, when appealed to, shall conduct a hearing and after the hearing may vary in part or in whole the application of any provision of the construction codes to any particular case, when, in its opinion, the interpretation of the Building Official should be modified or reversed for any reason.
   (B)   The Board may approve alternate methods of construction or materials where it is impractical to meet the adopted standards of the construction codes, provided the Board finds the same degree of suitability, strength, effectiveness, durability and safety exists in the alternate method or material as intended by the standards.
   (C)   The Board may approve new methods of construction or materials not covered by the construction codes, provided that the Board finds the same degree of suitability, strength, effectiveness, durability and safety exists in the new methods or materials as intended by the standards of the construction codes. The Board, in approving new standards or processes, shall rely on recognized standards or practices.
   (D)   A decision of the Board to vary the application of any provision of the construction codes or to modify an order of the Building Official shall specify in what manner the variation or modification is made, the conditions upon which it is made and the reasons therefor.
