1-20-5: INSTITUTING PROCEEDINGS:
   A.   Proceedings for the administrative adjudication for ordinance violations shall be instituted upon the filing of a written pleading by an authorized official of the village.
   B.   When a police officer or other individual authorized to issue an ordinance violation finds an ordinance violation to exist, they shall note the violation on a violation notice and report form which includes:
      1.   The type and nature of the ordinance violation to be adjudicated;
      2.   The date and location of the ordinance administrative hearing;
      3.   The legal authority and jurisdiction under which the ordinance administrative hearing is to be held; and
      4.   The penalties for failure to appear at the ordinance administrative hearing.
   C.   Parties shall be served with process in a manner reasonably calculated to give them notice by:
      1.   Personal service of process upon a party or its employees or agents;
      2.   Service by mail at a party's address; or
      3.   Posting upon the property where the violation is found when the party is the owner or manager of the property. 65 Illinois Compiled Statutes 5/1-2.1-5. (Ord. 1180, 7-15-2014)
