10-2-6: RECORD SEARCHES:
When the identity of the owner of a vehicle is not known, the police department will cause:
   A.   The vehicle registration records of the state to be searched by the secretary of state for the purpose of obtaining the required ownership information; and/or
   B.   The stolen motor vehicle files of the state police and the national crime information center (NCIC) files to be searched by a directed communication to the state police for stolen or wanted information on the vehicle. (Ord. 868, 8-2-2005)
