§ 54.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   AUTHORIZED COLLECTOR. Person or entity authorized by contract under § 54.07.
   BAGS. Plastic sacks designed to store refuse with sufficient wall strength to maintain physical integrity when lifted by top. Total weight of a bag and its contents shall not exceed 35 pounds.
   BULKY WASTE. Furniture, box springs, mattresses and other waste materials with weights or volumes greater than those allowed for containers.
   CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS. Waste building materials resulting from construction, remodeling, repair or demolition operations.
   CONTAINER. A receptacle with a capacity of greater than 20 gallons but less than 35 gallons, constructed of plastic, metal or fiberglass, having handles of adequate strength for lifting, and having a tight-fitting lid capable of preventing entrance into the container by animals. The weight of a container and its contents shall not exceed 50 pounds.
   GARBAGE. All putrescible or easily decomposable animal or vegetable waste matter, normal household GARBAGE and trash, except as otherwise excluded.
   NONRESIDENTIAL UNIT. Any premises devoted to any mercantile business such as, but not limited to, a store, shop, restaurant, theater, bowling alley, drive-in, office building, medical facility, or gas station selling goods or services, either retail or wholesale.
   PREMISES. The area of land surrounding or next to, or used in conjunction with, residential and nonresidential establishments, including all public and private walkways, parking lots, and storage areas.
   REFUSE. Miscellaneous waste material, including garbage and rubbish.
   RESIDENTIAL UNIT. A dwelling within the corporate limits of the village occupied by a person or group of persons comprising not more than 4 families. A RESIDENTIAL UNIT shall be deemed occupied when either water or domestic light and power services are being supplied thereto. A condominium dwelling, whether of single- or multi-level construction, consisting of 4 or less contiguous or separate single-family dwelling units, shall be treated as a RESIDENTIAL UNIT, except that each single-family dwelling within any such RESIDENTIAL UNIT shall be billed separately as a RESIDENTIAL UNIT.
   RUBBISH. All waste wood, wood products, chips, shavings, sawdust, printed matter, paper, pasteboard, rags, straw, used and discarded mattresses, used and discarded clothing, used and discarded shoes and boots, combustible waste pulp and other products such as are used for packaging or wrapping, crockery and glass, ashes, cinders, floor sweepings, mineral or metallic substances, but not including gravel, sand or earth.
   WHITE GOODS. The collection of WHITE GOODS is to include kitchen stoves, clothes dryers, clothes washers, furnaces, humidifiers, hot water heaters, trash compactors, dishwashers, metal sinks, metal counter tops and other related items. Refrigerators, central air conditioners, window air conditioners and dehumidifiers shall be accepted if properly tagged that Freon has been removed.
