For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
COMBINED SEWER. A sewer carrying surface runoff, ground water, sanitary sewage, and/or effluent of any kind.
CONNECTING STORM SEWER. A sewer which receives flow from a storm sewer line(s) such as a residence, catch basin, spring, or other source of runoff and/or groundwater and discharges into a main storm sewer.
GROUNDWATER. Water which flows into the storm sewer system originating from underground, such as springs, aquifers, or other sources related to geological structures.
MAIN STORM SEWER. A sewer which receives flow from a connecting sewer(s).
RUNOFF. Water which flows into the storm sewer system due to rain, melted snow, or other intermittent sources.
SANITARY SEWER. A sewer receiving sanitary sewage and/or effluent of any kind.
STORM SEWER. Any sewer carrying surface runoff and/or groundwater.
STORM SEWER LINE. A single passageway designed to receive runoff or groundwater and conduct it to a connecting storm sewer.
STORM SEWER SYSTEM. An arrangement of connecting and main sewers designed to conduct runoff and/or groundwater to the river.
TAP-IN. The portion of the connecting storm sewer which joins the main storm sewer.
