Any person who intentionally ingests, inhales, breathes, or otherwise takes into the body any substance for the purpose of becoming intoxicated is guilty of a misdemeanor. Common examples of prohibited huffing include: breathing in fumes from a cloth soaked in a chemical; breathing in fumes from an open container or filling a closet or car with vapors; placing a substance in a plastic bag and holding it over the mouth and nose; and spraying a substance directly into the mouth. This section does not apply to prescribed drugs when taken as prescribed or to anesthesia for medical or dental purposes.
