Sufficient barricades to permitted excavations on streets, avenues and alleys shall be erected by the contractor doing the excavation work under permit around all trenches or embankments made by him or her within the limits of any street, avenue or alley and red lights shall be maintained thereon from dark until daylight until the street, avenue or alley shall be restored to safe and passable condition.
