The Police Chief or Village Administrator or their designee shall have authority to declare any street or any part thereof a closed street and the authority to place appropriate signs or devices in the roadway indicating and helping protect the same. When an authorized Village of Mahomet employee or duly appointed volunteers provides a signal or verbal command, or a sign is erected indicating any street or part thereof as a closed street, no person shall drive a vehicle upon the street or part thereof except drivers of vehicles having business or whose residences are within closed area and have been provided authorization, and then any driver shall exercise the greatest care in driving upon the street or portion thereof.
