§ 111.001 DEFINITIONS.
   (A)   Whenever any words and phrases used in the chapter are not defined herein but are defined in the Illinois Vehicle Code, ILCS Ch. 625, Act 5, §§ 1-100 et seq., or otherwise in the Illinois Compiled Statutes, as amended, any such definition therein shall be deemed to apply to such words and phrases used in this chapter, except when the context otherwise requires.
   (B) The following words and phrases when used in this chapter shall, for the purpose of this chapter, have the meanings respectfully ascribed to them in this section below, except when the context otherwise requires.
      DRIVER. The person in actual physical control of a vehicle for hire.
      LICENSEE. Owner of vehicle for hire or the driver of said vehicle.
      LIMOUSINE. A vehicle classified as such pursuant to the State of Illinois and used to carry passengers for hire based primarily on an hourly rate rather than a mileage rate and is arranged between the passenger and operator prior to the arrival of the vehicle at the passenger's location.
      OPERATING. Owning a vehicle for hire.
      OPERATOR. Owner of a vehicle for hire.
      PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION VEHICLE. A privately-owned vehicle which is required to have registration plates with a "PT" suffix and designed to lawfully carry ten or more passengers, including but not limited to, passenger vans.
      TAXI (Also referred to as TAXICAB and CAB). Any vehicle used in the village to carry passengers for hire based on mileage, per person or flat rate.
      TAXIMETER. Any mechanical or electronic device which records and indicates a charge or fare measured by distance traveled, waiting time and extra passengers.
      VEHICLE FOR HIRE. Any motor vehicle engaged in the business of carrying persons for hire on the streets of the Village of Mahomet, including taxis, limousines and public transportation vehicles.
