§ 31.07 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   (A)   Creation and nature of position.
      (1)   There is hereby created the position of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Board of Trustees pursuant to § 3.1-30-5 of the Illinois Municipal Code. Any such appointment of the Chief of Police shall not be made by the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners pursuant to § 10-2.1-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code. The statutory provisions of § 3.1-35-10 of the Illinois Municipal Code are hereby made expressly applicable to the position of Chief of Police.
      (2)   The Chief of Police shall receive such compensation as shall be fixed from time to time by ordinance or resolution.
   (B)   Duties generally. The duties of the Chief of Police shall be:
      (1)   To direct the general operations and business of the Police Department of the village;
      (2)   To enforce all laws and ordinances within the village;
      (3)   To keep such records and make such reports concerning the activities of the Police Department as may be required by law or by ordinance;
      (4)   To perform such other duties as may be directed by the President and Board of Trustees and the Administrative Officer.
