§ 34.29 RETIREMENT BENEFITS.
   When any member of the Police and Fire Department of the city, having served 20 years or more, has reached his 51st birthday in such Police or Fire Departments, and his application to be relieved from such Police or Fire Departments has been granted, the Board of Trustees shall order and direct that such person be paid a monthly pension equal to one-half of the amount of salary the person is or was in receipt of as a member of the department at the time of granting the application.
